Welcome to Biological Computers - News and resources about computers the size of cellular components.
Biological computers will some day soon, I believe, be implanted or even built within a patient's own cells. These biological computers will act as biosensors, watching out for any origin of disease. Should the biocomputers find such toxins, the molecular logic circuits within the computer could chose the most appropriate action. In case of cancer, this action could be to induce programmed cell death. If the disease was not life threatening, a specific theraputic drug could be induced to bring the cell back to health.
Here's an interesting video on the future of medicine - once we are able to take advantage of biological computers...
If you are interested in biological computing, I might suggest that you subscribe to the free email service from www.Kurzweilai.net. I have been getting daily emails for well over a year, and although the topics cover many areas of emerging technologies, there is a lot of information on computers and biology. I have heard that the biological sciences are pretty much doubling every year in new knowledge, and that the first half of the 21st century has been dubbed - The Biological Century.
Thanks for stopping by BiologicalComputers.net. In this growing website, we will be adding special articles and news items from around the world - covering the increasing volume of new information about biocomputing. Please bookmark www.BiologicalComputers.net as a good resource for keeping abreast of the emerging field of computing via biological components. Thanks for stopping by.
